Ken McArthur demonstrates: if we do nothing we still make an impact

global war on baby girls“If you don’t make a difference, you don’t matter, you aren’t significant and you probably won’t be very happy about it.

The good news is, you do matter and so do your actions—even if you do nothing.

So what should you be doing?” -Ken McArthur

You can read Ken’s entire manifesto  “The Impact Manifesto: You Make A Difference Whether You Want To Or Not”. It ‘s quite an honor for my friend, for it was selected for publication by Seth Godin’s brainchild ChangeThis.

ChangeThisSeth Godin, Hugh MacLeod, Brian Solis, Jason Fried & David Heinemeier Hansson from 37signals, Guy Kawasaki, Chris Anderson, Jay Conrad Levinson, Tom Peters, Malcolm Gladwell and Robert Scoble all had manifestos featured on ChangeThis.”

Now Ken McArthur needs our help to spread his work to 1 million people. Be sure to read it here. I read it about a month ago and again today and have gotten even more from it with every read.

In Ken’s manifesto he continues with how we are connected. “Harvard Medical School professor Nicholas Christakis is Ken Mc Arthur, IMPACT MANIFESTOone of the most prominent figures in the emergent discipline of network science.

According to Christakis, “Things don’t just diffuse in human populations at random. They actually diffuse through networks.”

You live in a network of relationships between you and your friends, coworkers, siblings, and relatives, and how you are positioned in those networks matters.

Christakis says, “the people with the densest, most central connection form a ‘sensor group,’ a kind of canary in the mineshaft for what’s going to be cool next—or give you a cold.” McArthur says.

I’ve created JV ATTRACTION after Ken’s recent JV Alert in Philadelphia, PA because I’ve experienced the power of connection at Ken McArthur’s JV Alert events. In my Live Your Peace interview series that features in depth conversations with people have made positive impact in the community, often times these act to change are inspired by negative things in their lives; like the Man of Forgiveness Azim Khamisa whose death of his college age son delivering pizza lead to Azim befriending the  grand father of the 11 year old gang member who was forced by the gang to pull the trigger and kill Azim’s son.

Azim and the misguided boy’s grandfather  started an organization that lectures to high schools, gangs and corporations around the world about the power of forgiveness. Azim’s son’s killer has been fogiven and Azim has offered this young man a job in 30 years when the now boy is let out of prison.

How are the negative conversations impacting you to make a difference? Some of my most inspiring Live Your Peace  guests have been women who have adopted communities abroad  to do their heart’s work such as; Angelika is an Internationally traveling Oneness Blessing Musician sharing healing songs to communities around the world. Artist and Healer Ute Arnold take her students to Europe and Germany where she grew up with her father a Nazi officer.

Then there is bestselling British Hayhouse author Jude Currivan who loves visiting governments and getting to know how the county is run and how to be an informed proactive global citizen. Department of Peace Advocate Natalie Joy Kaye and The Peace Center director Barbara Simmons have found healing and purpose.  Richard Mc Laughlin works with trouble youth as a teacher, musician and performer. Emotional Freedom Technique Global Summit founder Lori Leyden is helping genocide youth forgive their murders in Africa and reduce fear and anxiety from a 10 down to a 1 or 2 in a matter of days and many more…

Consider your biggest challenge. How to get noticed in a noisy world? Consider creating your own Live Your Peace interview series or JV ATTRACTION community or do your part spreading what inspires you and tap into the supportive communities all around you.

I think the biggest message I got from Ken’s The Impact Manifesto is how if we do nothing we still make an impact… often a negative one… and if you  do something that brings light into your eyes, spark in your heart and bounce in your step you make an impact. Share your impact in the form of a book, coaching program, interview series, radio show. Let this powerful JV ATTRACTION community help you spread your impact.
